"Minister Tang Jiaxuan is visiting Singapore at the invitation of Foreign Minister Professor S Jayakumar. This is Minister Tang''s first official visit to Singapore, reciprocating Prof Jayakumar''s visit to China.

Mr Tang called on Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Minister Jayakumar today.

As this is the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China, Mr Tang and Prof Jayakumar took stock of bilateral relations. They discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations and co-operation. They also reviewed the recent 7th Asean Regional Forum and 33rd Asean Post Ministerial Conference held in Bangkok."
