Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman will visit Dili, Timor-Leste from 29 August to 31 August to attend the 20th Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Popular Consultation celebrations. The celebrations commemorate the United Nations-organised referendum on 30 August 1999 that led to Timor-Leste gaining independence in May 2002.
During the visit, SMS Maliki will attend commemorative events related to the celebrations, including a dinner hosted by President Francisco Guterres Lú-Olo, a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, a plenary session at the National Parliament, and an official ceremony. SMS Maliki will also call on other Timor-Leste leaders during his visit.
SMS Maliki will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
