MFA-MOF Joint Press Statement: Singapore Invited to Participate in the G20 Meetings and Summit in 2023

1 Singapore has been invited by the Republic of India to participate in the G20 meetings in 2023 and the Summit scheduled to be held from 9 to 10 September 2023 in New Delhi.

2 Singapore would like to extend our appreciation to India for the invitation. Singapore and India enjoy a long-standing relationship underpinned by close cooperation in many areas, including trade and investment, defence, FinTech, digital connectivity, skills development, and climate change and sustainability. Singapore looks forward to working constructively with the Indian G20 Presidency and other G20 members and guests to realise India’s priorities of promoting inclusive, equitable and sustainable growth for all. 

3 As Convenor of the Global Governance Group (3G)[1], Singapore will seek to convey the perspectives of its 30 small- and medium-sized members and serve as a bridge between the G20 and the wider UN membership. We commend India for its efforts to include non-G20 countries to reflect a broader range of views.
