Working Visit by Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. to Singapore, 31 January 2022

      Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. is in Singapore for a Working Visit.

    Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan met and hosted Secretary Locsin to breakfast today. They reaffirmed the excellent and longstanding relations between Singapore and the Philippines, which celebrated the 50^th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2019. They noted the flourishing people-to-people ties between the two countries, and looked forward to the restoration of travel links once the COVID-19 situation has eased. They also discussed ways to enhance existing bilateral cooperation in the areas of security and defence, and education.

     Minister Balakrishnan and Secretary Locsin also had a fruitful exchange of views on regional and international developments, including efforts to uphold ASEAN centrality, unity and credibility, and the situation in Myanmar.
