In response to media queries, the MFA Spokesperson said:
MFA congratulates Dr Noeleen Heyzer for her appointment as the UN Secretary-General (UNSG)’s Special Envoy on Myanmar. Dr Heyzer has decades of wide experience and dedicated service to the United Nations. Singapore wishes Dr Heyzer all the best in her efforts to contribute to a peaceful resolution of the situation in Myanmar.
Singapore also wishes to express its deep appreciation to Christine Schraner Burgener for her sterling efforts during her term as the UNSG’s Special Envoy on Myanmar since April 2018.
