In conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening Up, the PRC Government has conferred a Reform and Friendship Award on Singapore’s first Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew. The award is conferred in recognition of Singapore’s and Mr Lee’s long-standing and substantive support for China’s development over the years.
The Singapore Government has appointed Mr Alan Chan Heng Loon, Chairman of the Land Transport Authority, Chairman of the Singapore-China Foundation and former Principal Private Secretary to then-Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew to receive the award on Mr Lee’s behalf. Mr Chan received the award at the award ceremony in Beijing earlier today.
