ASEAN Plus One Ministerial Meetings, 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Related Meetings, Bangkok, Thailand, 1 August 2019

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan attended the ASEAN Ministerial Meetings with Australia, Japan, India, and the US in Bangkok, Thailand, on 1 August 2019.

During the Meetings, Minister Balakrishnan reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to work with fellow ASEAN Member States and ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners to step up cooperation in tackling emerging challenges arising from the ongoing digital revolution. He encouraged ASEAN and its Dialogue Partners to forge closer cooperation in cybersecurity, including through the upcoming ASEAN-Singapore Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence which will complement existing ASEAN efforts on that front.

Minister Balakrishnan called for closer partnership in smart city development under the ambit of the ASEAN Smart Cities Network, which seeks to enhance the sharing of experiences and expertise in tackling challenges in urbanisation through innovative technologies to improve the lives of ASEAN citizens.
