Visit by United States Congressional Delegation Led By Representative Young Kim (R-California), 22 January 2024

A United States Congressional delegation is visiting Singapore on 22 January 2024. The delegation is led by House Foreign Affairs Committee Indo-Pacific Subcommittee Chair Representative Young Kim (R-California), and comprises Representatives Debbie Lesko (R-Arizona), Kathy Manning (D-North Carolina), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) and Jonathan Jackson (D-Illinois).

 

The Congressional delegation called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong and was hosted to breakfast by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. During these engagements, DPM Wong and Minister Balakrishnan reaffirmed the robust and multi-faceted relationship between Singapore and the United States, which is rooted in strong defence and economic cooperation, and welcomed collaboration in new areas. They also exchanged views on global and regional developments, and discussed the importance of upholding the multilateral rules-based order.

 

The Congressional delegation also met Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong during their visit to Singapore.
