Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development, Sim Ann visited Zhejiang and Anhui from 29 October to 2 November 2023. SMS was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enterprise Singapore, and the Economic Development Board.

In Zhejiang, SMS met Zhejiang Deputy Party Secretary and Hangzhou Party Secretary Liu Jie, Zhejiang Vice Governor and Singapore-Zhejiang Economic and Trade Council Co-Chair Lu Shan, Yiwu Party Secretary Wang Jian, and Yiwu Mayor Ye Bangrui. They engaged in fruitful discussions on strengthening cooperation in various areas, including the digital economy, innovation, and youth exchanges. SMS also visited the Singapore-Hangzhou Science and Tech Park, and Singapore and Zhejiang companies. 

In Anhui, SMS Sim met Anhui Vice Governor Shan Xiangqian, Chuzhou Party Secretary Xu Jiwei and Hefei Vice Mayor Zhao Ming. They reaffirmed the warm ties between Singapore and Anhui, and discussed ways to step up cooperation and facilitate people-to-people exchanges. SMS Sim also visited the Suzhou-Chuzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, a joint venture project between the Chuzhou municipal government and the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Group Co. Ltd.

SMS will return to Singapore tomorrow morning.
