Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman attended the inauguration ceremony of Timor-Leste President Dr Jose Ramos-Horta and the celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of Timor-Leste in Dili. Minister Maliki called on President Ramos-Horta, Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Armindo Maia. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Adaljiza Magno hosted Minister Maliki to lunch.
Minister Maliki conveyed a congratulatory letter from President Halimah Yacob to President Ramos-Horta on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence.
Minister Maliki and the Timorese leaders reaffirmed the warm and longstanding relations between Singapore and Timor-Leste, as both countries celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. Minister Maliki reaffirmed Singapore’s support for Timor-Leste’s development journey through capacity building efforts and encouraged more Timorese officials to participate in courses under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
Minister Maliki will depart Dili today.
