Appointment of Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia, Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, and Non-Resident High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius

The Government has appointed Mr Anthony Lim Weng Kin as Singapore’s first Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia, Ms Tan Poh Hong as Singapore’s next Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, and Mr Lim Ming Yan as Singapore’s next Non-Resident High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius.

 

Mr Anthony Lim Weng Kin is an Independent Director at DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank. He is also Lead Independent Director at CapitaLand and CapitaLand Hope Foundation.

 

Mr Lim serves on a number of committees at DBS, CapitaLand, and the Scholars Rescue Fund at the Institute of International Education. He has held various senior positions in GIC Private Limited, Bankers Trust Company, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

 

Mr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the National University of Singapore in 1982.

 

Ms Tan Poh Hong is an adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Business School. During her time in the Public Service, she held several senior appointments, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Development Board, and Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore.

 

Ms Tan was awarded the Public Service Medal in 1999, the NTUC Medal of Commendation in 2001, and the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2013.

 

Ms Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Estate Management from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from New York University, USA.

 

Mr Lim Ming Yan is the Chairman of Singapore Business Federation and holds directorships of several listed and private companies including Singapore Press Holdings Limited and Sembcorp Industries. 

 

Mr Lim was formerly the President and Group CEO of CapitaLand Limited prior to his retirement in 2018.  

 

Mr Lim was a recipient of the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship in 1982.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Birmingham, UK in 1985, and was later conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the University in 2015.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Mr Anthony Lim Weng Kin is a Director on the Boards of two major Singapore listed companies. He is an Independent Director at DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank, and Lead Independent Director at CapitaLand Investment and CapitaLand Hope Foundation.

  Mr Lim was previously employed at GIC Private Ltd, where his last position was as Managing Director and President (Americas), overseeing the operations of the company in North and South America. Prior to GIC, he worked at Bankers Trust Company and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Anthony has held various senior management positions in Singapore, London and New York during his career.

  Mr Lim serves on the Selection Committee of the Scholars Rescue Fund at the Institute of International Education, based in New York.

  Mr Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the National University of Singapore and currently lives in Singapore with his wife, Erika.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

 

  Ms Tan Poh Hong is an adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Business School. She is also Vice Chairman of the Singapore Red Cross Council and the Industrial and Services Co-operative Society Ltd.

 

  Ms Tan currently sits on the boards of various listed companies such as the Sheng Siong Group, Centurion Corporation, AnnAik Group, VICOM Group, APAC Realty and OTS Holdings.

 

  In the Public Service, Ms Tan served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Development Board from 2004 to 2009 and Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore from 2009 to 2017. She was awarded the Public Service Medal in 1999, the NTUC Medal of Commendation in 2001, and the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2013.

Mr Lim Ming Yan is the Chairman of Singapore Business Federation. He holds several other board directorships, including as Independent Director of Singapore Press Holdings Limited and Sembcorp Industries Limited. He is also the Chairman of Workforce Singapore, Board Director of Business China, and Board Director of Enterprise Singapore.  

  Mr Lim was previously with CapitaLand Limited for 22 years where he served as President and Group Chief Executive Officer from 2013 to 2018. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of CapitaLand China from 2000 to 2009, and Chief Executive Officer of The Ascott Limited from 2009 to 2012.

Mr Lim obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Birmingham, UK in 1985. He was later conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the university in 2015. Mr Lim also attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, USA in 2002. He is married to Mdm Yue Tong Mui and they have three sons.
