Official Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 20 to 23 June 2021

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will make an Official Visit to Hanoi, Vietnam from 20 to 23 June 2021 at the invitation of Vietnam Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
 
Minister Balakrishnan and Foreign Minister Son will sign the renewed Agreement on the Study Visit Programme and Executive Education Programme for Senior Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Officials from 2021 to 2023. The Ministers will also discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of post-COVID-19 recovery and digital economy.
 
Minister Balakrishnan will meet President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, and Foreign Minister Son. Foreign Minister Son will also host lunch for Minister Balakrishnan.
 
In addition, Minister Balakrishnan will meet Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien, and Chairman of the CPV Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung.
 
Minister Balakrishnan will also deliver remarks at the High Level Opening of the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) High Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD). The ASEM HLPD, entitled “ASEM at 25: Strengthening Asia-Europe Partnership in a Transforming World”, is organised by Vietnam in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of ASEM.
 
Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
