Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan’s Videoconference with Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan had a videoconference with Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Commission for External Relations (CER) Le Hoai Trung on 29 April 2021.

 

  Minister Balakrishnan congratulated Chairman Trung on his appointment as Chairman of the CPV CER. They reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations, both at the Government and Party levels, and committed to continue working closely to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Vietnam. They agreed there was strong potential to deepen economic linkages, capacity building, and people-to-people exchanges as well as explore new areas of cooperation. They discussed developments in Singapore and Vietnam, including both countries’ efforts against COVID-19, and looked forward to the safe resumption of essential business and official travel between both countries. They also exchanged views on international and regional developments.

 

Members of Parliament Ms Rachel Ong and Mr Don Wee, who are members of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Affairs, participated in the videoconference alongside Minister Balakrishnan.
