Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó is on an official visit to Singapore on 14 October 2020. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Hungary.
Minister Szijjártó was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. The two Foreign Ministers reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties between both countries. They welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Singapore’s Ministry of Education and the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade last month on the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship offered by the Hungarian government for Singaporean students to pursue their studies in Hungary. Notwithstanding challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foreign Ministers discussed ways to broaden and deepen bilateral cooperation in economics, agri-trade and investment, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
Minister Szijjártó will also meet Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing and the Economic Development Board Office for Space Technology and Industry before departing Singapore on the same day.
