Visit of Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac under the S R Nathan Fellowship, 18 to 20 February 2020

Chairman of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Commission for Internal Affairs and Member of the CPV Central Committee Secretariat Phan Dinh Trac called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. Chairman Trac is visiting Singapore under the S R Nathan Fellowship. PM and Chairman Trac reaffirmed the excellent bilateral ties between Singapore and Vietnam, and agreed there was scope to expand our cooperation as Strategic Partners. PM said that Singapore will support Vietnam, which is the Chair of ASEAN this year, to deepen ASEAN integration and build a stronger ASEAN Community. PM emphasised the importance of regional cooperation for the long-term interests of ASEAN, and also in dealing with immediate challenges like the COVID-19 outbreak.

 

Chairman Trac also called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat today. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as in trade, investment, anti-corruption, and people-to-people relations.

 

Chairman Trac also received a briefing by the Attorney-General’s Chambers and met Attorney-General Lucien Wong.

 

Launched in November 2012, the S R Nathan Fellowship is a high-level programme where foreign leaders, prominent personalities and opinion shapers are invited to Singapore to exchange ideas and experiences on important issues with Singapore leaders and senior government officials.
