State Visit by President Halimah Yacob to the Republic of Indonesia from 3 to 6 Feb 2020

President Halimah Yacob will make a State Visit to the Republic of Indonesia from 3 to 6 February 2020, at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. This will be President’s first State Visit to Indonesia, and will reaffirm the wide-ranging, substantive, and mutually-beneficial relationship between Singapore and Indonesia.

 

President will begin her visit in Jakarta from 3 to 5 February. President will receive a ceremonial welcome at the Istana in Bogor and meet President Joko Widodo, who will host a State Banquet for President. President will also receive a call by Vice-President Ma’ruf Amin. President will lay a wreath at the Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery, as is customary for State Visits to Indonesia.

 

President will also visit a Singapore International Foundation project on occupational therapy for children with special needs, and view an Industry 4.0 training programme, organised under a Memorandum of Understanding between Singapore Polytechnic and the Indonesian Ministry of Industry. President will meet the Singapore community in Indonesia, and have engagements with Singapore and Indonesian business leaders, as well as Indonesian religious and interfaith personalities.

 

In Yogyakarta, President will meet with and be hosted to dinner by the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. President will also have a dialogue with students of Gadjah Mada University and visit BLOCK71@Yogyakarta, a start-up incubation community established by NUS Enterprise in partnership with the Salim Group.

 

President will be accompanied by Mr Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee; Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Ms Grace Fu; Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development Mr Sam Tan; Members of Parliament Ms Jessica Tan, Mr Saktiandi Bin Supaat, and Mr Ang Wei Neng; as well as officials from the President’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Enterprise Singapore. In addition, a business delegation organised by the Singapore Business Federation and Enterprise Singapore will visit Indonesia in conjunction with the State Visit.

 

During President Halimah’s absence, Mr Eddie Teo, Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers, will exercise the function of the Office of the President.
