25 January 2020

Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development, Sam Tan will visit Tromsø, Norway, from 25 to 30 January 2020 to attend the 14th Arctic Frontiers Conference (AFC).

Organised by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian think-tanks, the AFC is an annual platform for government leaders, business leaders and academics to discuss collaboration between government, industry and science in the Arctic. This is the sixth time that Singapore is attending the AFC since becoming an Observer in the Arctic Council in 2013. The theme of the 14th AFC is “The Power of Knowledge”, and MOS Tan will deliver an intervention at a plenary session on “Sustainable Arctic Ocean”. MOS Tan will also meet with Arctic interlocutors on the sidelines of the AFC. Singapore’s participation at the AFC is part of our overall engagement of Arctic states in line with our Observership in the Arctic Council.

MOS Tan will be accompanied by Non-Resident Ambassador to Norway Tan Wah Yeow and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
