Visit by US Congressional Delegation led by Chair of the Senate Rules Committee Senator Roy Blunt, 6 - 8 August 2019

A bipartisan and bicameral United States Congressional delegation led by Chair of the Senate Rules Committee Senator Roy Blunt (R-Missouri) called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on 6 August 2019. The delegation comprises Senator Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi), Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan), Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah), Senator Kevin Cramer (R-North Dakota), Congressman Tom Cole (R-Oklahoma) and Congressman Jason Smith (R-Missouri).
 
2 During the call, PM Lee and the Congressional delegation affirmed the robust, deep and multifaceted relationship between Singapore and the United States across the economic, defence and security spheres. The Members of Congress expressed their appreciation for Singapore’s consistent support for the United States’ engagement of the region. Both sides also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments.
 
3 The Congressional delegation is visiting Singapore from 6 to 8 August 2019.  During their visit, they will separately meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat, and Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen.  They will also be separately hosted to breakfast by Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing, and hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
