Official Launch of the Newly Repainted Alkaff Bridge, 12 July 2019

12 July 2019

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Teodoro L Locsin, Jr. jointly officiated at the launch of the newly repainted Alkaff Bridge at Robertson Quay on 12 July 2019.

2 Since 2004, the Alkaff Bridge featuring the artwork of Filipina artist Pacita Abad has become a landmark in Singapore’s tourism and arts scene.  It is a vibrant symbol of the close cooperation and friendship between Singapore and the Philippines.  The artwork was recently repainted in June 2019 as part of a series of commemorative events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and the Philippines.

3 The repainting of Alkaff Bridge was made possible by the generous contributions of Singapore and Philippine donors, and the support of the Land Transport Authority (LTA), National Arts Council (NAC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Cultural Matching Fund (CMF), and the Philippine Embassy in Singapore.
