Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Jakarta, Indonesia, 16 to 18 July 2019

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is on a working visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, from 16 to 18 July 2019.

 

Minister Balakrishnan met his counterpart, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, earlier today. The Ministers reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations. They had productive discussions on how Singapore and Indonesia could find new areas to strengthen bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit, and on the preparations for the next Leaders’ Retreat to be held in Singapore. The Ministers also reviewed the good discussions between the Transport Ministries and Civil Aviation Authorities of both countries over the past few months on the issue of the Flight Information Region, and noted that these discussions between the Transport Ministries and Civil Aviation Authorities will continue. In addition, the Ministers exchanged views on regional developments, and underscored their shared commitment towards strengthening ASEAN Centrality and Unity.

 

Earlier in the day, Minister Balakrishnan met Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto over lunch. The Ministers welcomed the robust collaboration between Singapore and Indonesia in a diverse range of areas, including investments, vocational and technical education, and human resource development.
