            Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has written to Prime Minister of Fiji Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama to offer his condolences on the destruction wrought by Tropical Cyclone Winston on 20 February 2016 and to convey Singapore’s contribution of US$100,000 to assist in Fiji’s relief and recovery efforts.  The text of the letter is appended below.

Dear Prime Minister Bainimarama,              

            I was saddened to hear of the loss of lives and destruction in Fiji caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Government, and people of the Republic of Fiji whose resilience in the face of this disaster has been remarkable.

            Singapore will make a contribution of US$100,000 to assist Fiji in its immediate relief and recovery efforts.  I am confident that Fiji will recover quickly under your able leadership.
