Call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong by the Mayor of Istanbul, Dr Kadir Topbaş, 19 February 2016 [Photo: MCI]
 

            The Mayor of Istanbul, Dr Kadir Topbaş, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. PM Lee and Mayor Topbaş discussed opportunities for collaboration between Singapore and Istanbul.  PM Lee also conveyed his condolences over the fatalities in the recent terror attacks in Turkey. 

            Mayor Topbaş, accompanied by officials from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was in Singapore on a working visit from 18 to 19 February 2016.  In addition to the call on PM Lee, he was hosted to lunch by Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang.  Mayor Topbaş also visited the Tuaspring Desalination Plant, NEWater Visitor Centre and the URA City Gallery to learn more about Singapore’s experience in water management and urban planning.
