         Federal Councillor for Finance of the Swiss Confederation Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf paid a courtesy call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam today.  They reaffirmed the strong friendship between Singapore and Switzerland and discussed bilateral cooperation in various areas such as education and research.  They also exchanged views on regional and global developments.

        Earlier, Ms Widmer-Schlumpf met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.  They also had an exchange of views on global economic developments.

        Ms Widmer-Schlumpf and her delegation will depart Singapore on 4 February 2015.
