MFA Press Statement: State Visit of His Excellency Issoufou Mahamadou President of the Republic of Niger, 19 to 23 January 2014

President Issoufou Mahamadou of Niger will make a State Visit to Singapore from19 to 23 January 2014 at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam.  This is President Issoufou’s first State Visit to Singapore.

 

President Tan will receive President Issoufou at the Istana and host a State Lunch in his honour on 20 January.  President Issoufou will also meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang and Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong during his visit.  There will be an orchid named inhonour of President Issoufou at the National Orchid Garden on 22 January.

 

During his visit, President Issoufou will receive briefings at the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, Marina Barrage, Institute of Technical Education and Changi Airport, as well as meet representatives from Temasek Holdings, the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and Surbana Corporation Pte Ltd.  He will also deliver a keynote address at the Niger-Singapore Business Forum organised by the Singapore Business Federation on 23 January.

 

President Issoufou will be accompanied by two Senior Ministers (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Niger Citizen Abroad, Mohamed Bazoum, and Minister of Planning, Land Management and Community Development, Amadou Boubacar Cisse) as well as five other Cabinet Ministers.
