Joint Press Statement: Technical Discussions on Maritime Boundaries between the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Singapore in the Eastern Part of the Strait of Singapore, 8-9 November 2012

1. The delegations of the Governments of the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Singapore held the Fifth Round of Technical Discussions on Maritime Boundaries in the Eastern Part of the Strait of Singapore in Singapore on 8-9 November 2012, as a follow-up to the Fourth Round of Technical Discussions, held in Surabaya on 17-18 September 2012.

2. The Indonesian delegation was led by Mr. Octavino Alimudin, Acting Director for Treaties on Political, Security and Territorial Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Singapore delegation was led by Mr. Lionel Yee, Second Solicitor-General, Attorney-General’s Chambers.

3. At the Fifth Round of Technical Discussions, the delegations continued discussions on the Terms of Reference and other issues relating to the territorial sea boundary in the eastern part of the Strait of Singapore.

4. Both Heads of Delegation acknowledged that the progress reached at the Discussions would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
