Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Wunna Maung Lwin today made a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo on the sidelines of the Special Informal ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting on the East Asian Summit in Bangkok. In their first meeting since Minister Wunna Maung Lwin's appointment on 30 March 2011, both Ministers reaffirmed the longstanding and friendly relations between Singapore and Myanmar. Both Ministers agreed that the countries should continue to strengthen cooperation bilaterally and within ASEAN. Minister Yeo expressed Singapore's willingness to continue supporting Myanmar's capacity building efforts, particularly in human resource development. He also invited Minister Wunna Maung Lwin to make an introductory visit to Singapore at a mutually convenient time.
