MFA Press Statement: Singapore's Humanitarian Relief Assistance To Japan

The Singapore Government, after consultation with the Japanese Foreign Ministry, and in close collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross Society and Mercy Relief, will be sending emergency supplies to Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The shipments consist of blankets, mattresses, bottled water, water containers and foodstuffs. The first shipment, totalling 60 tonnes and comprising contributions from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Singapore Red Cross Society, will be sent to Japan tomorrow morning. The SAF's contributions, worth approximately S$300,000, were in response to a specific request from the Japanese Government. The Singapore Government will work with the Japanese authorities to expedite the delivery of the supplies to the affected areas. Further shipments from the SAF, the Singapore Red Cross Society and Mercy Relief will be despatched over the next few days.
