Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed called on Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Elyor Ganiev yesterday afternoon. Both Ministers discussed initiatives to expand bilateral economic cooperation. SMS Zainul noted the business opportunities available in Uzbekistan and welcomed proposals to encourage more Singaporean companies to enter Uzbekistan. Both countries had held three business fora to date, with a fourth forum scheduled later this week.
Earlier yesterday, SMS Zainul called on First Deputy Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov. The Ministers noted the friendly and growing relations between Singapore and Uzbekistan and exchanged views on the dynamics in Central Asia and their implications for the surrounding regions.
