MFA Spokesman's Comments on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1851 (2008)

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore - $name

In response to media queries on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1851 (2008), the MFA Spokesman said,

"Singapore fully supports the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1851 (2008) adopted on 16 December 2008 on the piracy situation off the coast of Somalia. Singapore views the piracy situation in the Gulf of Aden with deep concern. This situation is a complex and multi-faceted problem that is beyond the scope and capacity of any one country to resolve. It necessitates a coordinated international response. In this regard, we will continue to work with the international community through the United Nations and the IMO to address the piracy situation in the Gulf of Aden. "
