President of the Republic of Costa Rica, His Excellency Oscar Arias Sanchez, will be making an official visit to Singapore from 1 to 5 December 2008. President Arias will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Stagno Ugarte, the Minister of National Planning and Economic Policy, Roberto J. Gallardo Núñez, and other officials.
During the visit, President Arias will call on President S R Nathan and meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who will host him to a lunch at the Istana. In recognition of Costa Rica's initiatives on the environment on the domestic and international front, President Arias will deliver a public lecture titled, "Peace with Nature: A Costa Rican Green Initiative" as part of the Institute of Policy Studies Nobel Laureate Lecture series. While in Singapore, President Arias will also meet with Singapore businesses and visit several agencies, including PSA International, Economic Development Board, and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research.
