The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has informed Singapore, as Chairman of ASEAN, that it will accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). The Accession Ceremony will take place after the 15th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Singapore on 24 July 2008.
ASEAN warmly welcomes the DPRK's decision. ASEAN believes that the DPRK's accession to the TAC will strengthen relations between ASEAN and the DPRK, and also help promote peace, security and cooperation in the region.
