MFA Press Statement: Humanitarian Assistance to China

Singapore's Consul in Chengdu Lim Meng Hui handed over to the Chinese authorities the first tranche of the Singapore Government's contribution of US$200,000 worth of humanitarian assistance package today. Consisting of medical supplies, this first tranche will be followed by subsequent tranches over the next few days comprising drinking water, water purifying tablets, tents, groundsheets, blankets, sleeping bags and food supplies.

Singapore's Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) contingent arrived at Chengdu via two Singapore Armed Forces C-130 military planes yesterday to assist in China's search and rescue efforts.
