MFA Press Statement: Singapore to Host 2nd Asean Regional Forum Seminar on Energy Security, 16-17 April 2008

Singapore will host the 2nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Seminar on Energy Security from 16-17 April 2008. Co-chairing the event with Singapore will be the European Union. Singapore and the EU had also co-chaired the 1st ARF Seminar on Energy Security in Brussels in October 2006.

The Seminar will bring together senior officials and experts from the ARF countries* to share national experiences and perspectives in responding to the challenges of enhancing energy security. Given the growing increase in demand for energy, tight energy supplies, and rising costs of energy, this Seminar will provide a timely platform for officials and experts to exchange ideas and discuss ways on how ARF countries can cooperate to enhance energy security at both the national and regional levels.
