The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain His Excellency Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa called on President S R Nathan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew separately at the Istana today. His Excellency Shaikh Khalid is in Singapore on a five-day visit at Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo's invitation.
During the meetings, they welcomed the expeditious and smooth conclusion of the negotiations for the GCC-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Singapore and Bahrain also agreed that ASEAN and the GCC should explore ways to develop closer linkages. Singapore leaders and Shaikh Khalid also had fruitful discussions on developments in Bahrain and recent developments in the Middle East and Asia.
