MFA Press Statement: Calls by Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, 19 February 2008

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, who is making an Introductory Visit to Singapore from 17-19 February 2008, separately called on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 19 February 2008. During the meetings, they discussed how both sides could work more closely together to enhance bilateral relations, including in the area of human resource development. In his meeting with Mr Lee, DPM Thongloun said that the Lao PDR has ratified the ASEAN Charter, and will continue to work with Singapore and other ASEAN countries to advance the process of ASEAN integration.

Following his bilateral visit, DPM Thongloun will attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Retreat in Singapore from 19-20 February 2008.
