MFA Press Statement: Call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong by Mr Bernard Kouchner Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the French Republic, 29 October 2007

The French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Mr Bernard Kouchner, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, at the Istana this afternoon.

Mr Kouchner and Mr Lee noted that relations between Singapore and France were good. They welcomed more bilateral exchanges to deepen political and economic cooperation.

Foreign Minister Kouchner and Prime Minister Lee also exchanged views on the current situation in Myanmar. Both sides highlighted the importance of the mission of the UNSC Special Advisor, Mr Ibrahim Gambari. They expressed full support for Mr Gambari's efforts, and agreed that it was necessary for the international community to work closely to help bring about national reconciliation in Myanmar.
