Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo met His Excellency Abdelrahman Mohamed Shalgham, Secretary of the Libyan General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation, on Monday, 1 October 2007, on the sidelines of the 62nd United Nations General Assembly. The Foreign Ministers discussed possible bilateral economic cooperation and expressed keenness to build on the momentum of earlier visits by Minister Yeo to Libya in May 2007 and Dr Mahmoud Gebril, Secretary, National Planning Council to Singapore in September 2007.
Minister Yeo invited Minister Shalgham to visit Singapore with a Libyan business delegation to foster deeper ties between government officials and the private sector.
