MFA Press Statement: Meeting between President S R Nathan and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly Mr Kim Yong Nam

The President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Mr Kim Yong Nam, called on President S R Nathan at the Istana on 1 August 2007 and was also hosted to lunch by President Nathan. Both leaders reaffirmed the long-standing bilateral relations between Singapore and the DPRK and exchanged views on regional developments. Mr Kim briefed President Nathan on the situation in the DPRK and in the six-party talks. President Nathan shared Singapore's experiences in economic development and encouraged the DPRK to deepen its engagement of the global community.
