MFA Press Statement: Official Visit by the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, 4 to 6 June 2007

At the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will be in Singapore for an official visit from 4 to 6 June 2007. This is His Highness' first official visit to Singapore. His Highness will be accompanied by the Minister of Finance Bader Mishari Al-Humaithi, Minister of Commerce and Industry Engineer Falah Fahid Al-Hajri, Governor of Al Ahmadi Sheikh Dribraheem Al-Duajj Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ali Mohammad Thunaian Al-Ghanum, senior officials and a high-level business delegation.

His Highness will be calling on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. His Highness will also meet with Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. Prime Minister Lee will host dinner in honour of His Highness.

His Highness will visit the Asian Civilisation Museum and the Botanical Gardens where an orchid will be named in his honour. His Highness and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will both witness the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding between Singapore and Kuwait in the areas of (i) cultural and information cooperation, and (ii) tourism cooperation, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Venture Agreement between Development Enterprise Holding Co (a part of Kuwait Finance House), Tamilnadu Petroproducts Limited, and EDB Investments Pte Ltd.
