The First Mayor of Hamburg, Mr Ole von Beust, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana today. They discussed a wide range of issues, in particular, climate change and the move towards greater energy efficiency. New technologies for better environmental protection and clean and renewable energy were highlighted as areas where Singapore and Hamburg could step up bilateral collaboration. PM Lee and Mr von Beust also had a brief exchange of views on how Europe could broaden its linkages with Asia, and actively engage the ASEAN countries.
