MFA Press Statement: Visit to Singapore by His Majesty Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail, Sultan and Sovereign Ruler of the State and Territories of Johor Darul Ta'zim, 12 to 13 April 2007

His Majesty Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail, Sultan and Sovereign Ruler of the State and Territories of Johor Darul Ta'zim will visit Singapore from 12 to 13 April 2007 at the invitation of the National University of Singapore to accept an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws. The Honorary Degree has been awarded in recognition of His Majesty's steadfast leadership of Johor and for His Majesty's valuable contributions to relations between Singapore and Johor.

His Majesty will be accompanied by Her Majesty Sultanah Zanariah binti Almarhum Tunku Ahmad, Sultanah of Johor, His Royal Highness Tunku Ibrahim Ismail ibni Sultan Iskandar, the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Her Royal Highness Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail Ibrahim ibni Tunku Ibrahim Ismail, the Raja Muda Johor as well as His Excellency Dato' Abdul Ghani bin Othman, Menteri Besar of Johor and other officials.

President S R Nathan and Mrs Nathan will host a lunch in honour of Their Majesties. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs Lee will call on Their Majesties. PM Lee and Mrs Lee will also host dinner in honour of Their Majesties.

During the visit, His Majesty will visit the Urban Redevelopment Authority and the SAF Commando Headquarters. Her Majesty will visit the National Museum and the Malay Heritage Centre and attend an Orchid-Naming Ceremony in honour of Her Majesty.
