Foreign Minister George Yeo met with French Minister Delegate for European Affairs Catherine Colonna on 13 January 2007 at the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit.
Both Ministers reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations, and exchanged views on regional issues. Minister Yeo welcomed France's accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) in Southeast Asia, and encouraged France to further enhance its engagement of ASEAN.
As 2007 is the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations, both Ministers agreed that dialogue relations between the two regions should be further strengthened, through possible initiatives such as closer economic cooperation and the convening of a Commemorative Summit.
