Dear Bapak Presidan,

I have been following closely with much sadness, developments since last Saturday's earthquake in Central Java. I am saddened to learn of the many lives that have been lost, the many who have suffered serious injuries and others who have been devastated and in need of help.

On behalf of the people of Singapore, please accept my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the people of Indonesia, particularly those whose lives were directly affected by this disaster.
