MFA SPOKESMAN'S COMMENTS
MANDALA AIRLINES PLANE CRASH IN MEDAN - FM GEORGE YEO'S REMARKS
In response to media queries, the MFA Spokesman said:
"Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo is saddened to hear about the plane crash in Medan, North Sumatra, which has killed over more than 100 people this morning. He expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this accident, and to the Government and people of Indonesia.
Minister Yeo added that he was particularly saddened to hear that among the victims was the Governor of North Sumatra, Tengku Rizal Nurdin, who was an old friend whom he just met recently in Medan on his way to Aceh."
