APPOINTMENT OF SINGAPORE'S AMBASSADOR TO THE
ARGENTINE REPUBLIC

The Government has appointed Mr Philip Ng Chee Tat, 46, as Ambassador to the Argentine Republic, resident in Singapore. Mr Ng is concurrently Singapore's Ambassador to the Republic of Chile. He will present his credentials to Vice-President Daniel Osvaldo Scioli on 20 September 2004.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Mr Philip Ng Chee Tat is Singapore's Ambassador to the Republic of Chile and Ambassador-Designate to the Argentine Republic, resident in Singapore. He is also Chief Executive Officer of Far East Organization (Singapore).

Mr Ng was born in Singapore on 16 September 1958. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours (1st Class) degree from London University in UK in 1983. He obtained his Master of Science (Technology and Policy) and Master in City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA in 1985.

Mr Ng started his career with the Sino Group (Hong Kong) in 1986 and is now its Director. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yeo Hiap Seng Limited. He is also Chairman (non-executive) of Orchard Parade Holdings and Sentosa Development Corporation, a statutory board in Singapore. He is also on the Boards of many companies.

Mr Ng is married to Mdm Lim Vy-vyen and they have two daughters and four sons.
