MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PRESS STATEMENT

10th BRUNEI-SINGAPORE EXCHANGE VISIT,
13 - 15 SEPTEMBER 2003

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Prof S Jayakumar, will lead a delegation of Ministers, senior officials and private sector representatives to Brunei Darussalam for the 10th Brunei-Singapore Exchange Visit from 13 to 15 September 2003. This visit is part of a regular series of exchanges between Singapore and Brunei begun in 1990. Held alternately in the two countries, the exchange allows political leaders, civil servants and businessmen of the two countries to build ties through informal interactions. Singapore hosted the last Exchange in August 2002.

The Singapore delegation includes the Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Wong Kan Seng; the Minister for Defence, RAdm Teo Chee Hean; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and for Trade and Industry Mr Raymond Lim; Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry Dr Vivian Balakrishnan; and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Information, Communications and the Arts, Mr Yatiman Yusof.

The Singapore Ministers and senior officials will have an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The Singapore delegates will also have separate bilateral meetings with their Bruneian counterparts.
