MFA Spokesman's Comments - Bomb Blast at Marriott Hotel in Jakarta

In response to media queries, the MFA Spokesman said:

"The Singapore Embassy in Jakarta continues to monitor the situation closely. As of 2000 Hrs (Singapore time), our Embassy in Jakarta has been in touch with 17 Singaporeans who were staying at the Marriott Hotel. Twelve of these Singaporeans have been given consular assistance including the issue of temporary travel documents and assistance for departure home to Singapore. Four Singaporeans, who were injured in the attack, have been hospitalised. Our Embassy officials have visited them in hospital. We have not received any further reports of Singaporean casualties but we are maintaining close contact with the relevant authorities. Our Embassy is also keeping close touch with the Singaporean community in Jakarta and helping trace the whereabouts of Singaporeans as reported by their family members today.
