MFA Press Statement - Visit of Minister-President of Flanders, Patrick Dewael

VISIT OF MINISTER-PRESIDENT OF FLANDERS, PATRICK DEWAEL TO SINGAPORE, 17 TO 19 SEPTEMBER 2001

The Minister-President of the Government of Flanders, Patrick Dewael, will visit Singapore from 17-19 September 2001. This will be the Minister-President's first visit to Singapore and to Southeast Asia. The delegation will include the Minister of Finance, Innovation, Media and Spatial Planning, Dirk Van Mechelen, and senior officials from Flanders. Mr Dewael will also be accompanied by a high-powered business delegation including the CEOs of major companies such as Noordnatie, Hessenatie, Port of Zeebrugge, Antwerp Port Authority, Seghers Group, IMEC and VIB.

Minister-President Dewael will call on Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Yeo Cheow Tong and Minister for Trade and Industry BG George Yeo. Minister Yeo Cheow Tong will host lunch for Mr Dewael and his delegation, which will also have meetings with PSA Corporation, Jurong Town Corporation, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, National Science and Technology Board, and Temasek Holdings. During these talks, Singapore and Flanders will explore opportunities for greater economic collaboration between Singapore and Flanders.
