COMMENTS BY MFA SPOKESMAN
In response to press queries, the MFA Spokesman confirmed that Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law, Professor S Jayakumar was informed by his Cambodian counterpart, Mr Hor Namhong, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, that the Cambodian National Assembly has approved the Constitutional amendments on the Senate.
Professor Jayakumar, as Chairman of the ASEAN Standing Committee, has today written to all the ASEAN foreign ministers proposing that we implement the Hanoi decision on convening a special admission ceremony for Cambodia to be admitted as a member of ASEAN. Vietnam as host country will settle the date for the special admission ceremony to be held in Hanoi.
