ICA’s Statement To Clarify Fake News Circulating On HKSAR Visitors On Visa Requirements

22 November 2019

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is aware of false information circulating via WhatsApp chat groups and social media platforms that Hong Kong SAR (HKSAR) passport holders are required to apply for visa before seeking entry to Singapore. We would like to clarify that HKSAR passport holders do not require visas to enter Singapore. The visa requirement is only necessary for HKSAR Document of Identity (DOI) holders as HKSAR passports and HKSAR DOIs are different sets of travel documents. There is no change to the existing visa policy for both HKSAR passport and DOI holders. The Singapore Consulate-General in Hong Kong has also clarified this matter on 18 November 2019. We urge the public not to spread such rumours. The public should also check official information sources such as ICA's website at www.ica.gov.sg.
